Matt Levine was a founding member and Vice President at GTI. Leading GTI to market leader position in Illinois after being first to market for both wholesale and retail, his responsibilities at GTI included: siting real estate and navigating local permit/approval processes; establishing strong relationships with local leaders and communities; drafting GTI’s applications for licenses in Illinois, Maryland and Massachusetts; managing construction of two cultivation facilities and one dispensary in Illinois; hiring cultivation and retail managers and initial staff; managing the wholesale function and hiring the sales team; and acquiring existing dispensary licenses to increase market share. Before joining GTI’s leadership team, Levine practiced labor and employment law at Ogletree, Deakins, Nash, Smoak & Stewart, an AmLaw 100 firm with more than 45 offices across the U.S. and Europe. Levine represented management in all aspects of labor relations and employment matters, including litigating in federal and state courts, negotiating collective bargaining agreements, chairing labor arbitrations, counseling clients on EEOC audits, OSHA investigations, reductions-in-force, FLSA audits and wage claims, union avoidance training, and defamation issues. Levine holds a B.A. from Northwestern University. He earned his J.D. at Villanova University School of Law, where he served as editor-in-chief of the Villanova Sports and Entertainment Law Journal.
